GLOUSTER, Ohio - Burr Oak State Park Resort & Conference Center is located on the edge of Appalachia amid some of the most spectacular scenery in the eastern United States.
The lodge features a spacious lobby with huge windows offering spectacular views of the hills, trees and Burr Oak Lake. The 60 comfortable guest rooms are complemented by a campground and 30 fully furnished housekeeping cabins.
In the first decade of the park system, it became clear that this landscape was ideal for a variety of recreational activities. The lodge was built in the 1960s to serve residents of southeast Ohio and nearby Ohio University in Athens.
Rugged types may want to enjoy 40 miles of hiking trails, including a three-day backpacking trip on the Buckeye Trail. A 640-acre lake allows outboard motors up to 10 horsepower, and a marina offers four launch ramps and pontoon boat rides. A variety of activities includes tennis, shuffleboard, volleyball, basketball, badminton, playground, horseshoes, swimming at the beach and fishing. Indoor diversions include swimming in the pool or playing various parlor games, board games or table tennis.
Conference facilities include on-site meeting planners to facilitate conferences in five meeting rooms accommodating up to 200 people. Complete audio-visual support is available.
Nearby activities include hunting and fishing in the Trimble Wildlife Area of Wolf Creek Wildlife Area.
